Introducing Me and the media

Well to start off, my name is Kirbie Jane Mennie I'm a 17 year old student at Goffs School in Hertfordshire. I am currently studying at my schools sixth Form to carry on with Media Studies, English, Business Studies and Photography. When I leave sixth Form I want to go onto University to study photography and media, then hopefully after I want a future career in a magazine or advertising.I finished my work expierence at the You magazine in the Sunday Daily Mail where I went around all the different desks and was really fond of Editors and Photos. I also play guitar the style of music I play is pop-punk, skater, rock and heavy metal, I go to alot of concerts to go see the bands I love and I always have a great time seeing them live.
I am really passionate about Media because its something different to do and it really caught my eye when doing my coursework where I could use my creative side. I am also really fond of photography expecially Music Photography as I go to alot of concerts so I take photos not just for memories but also to practice, the career I want involves work with the Music industry as I want to work with a magazine such as "Kerrang!", "Rocksound", "NME" and "Q Mag" writing reviews or taking photos. At first I wanted to make it as a musician when I was picking my subjects for year 10 but when I started the work in Media I found it very interesting and thought if music wasn't what I wanted to do in the future I would love a job in the Media business, I found out during my course that there are different types of Media that links to everything such as Sport, Film, TV, Cars, and even Music which made me more eager to carry on Media that would also involve music my other passion.

I have three main musicans who I love and have listened to since I was young, they have been such an inspiration to me and influences for the guitar, I have many other musician's that I love but the main three are:

Synyster Gates, the lead guitarist from Avenged Sevenfold, his real name is Brian Elwin Haner Jr.
Born on July 7th 1981 (aged 29), he grew up in Lakewood but moved to Hungtington in California where he met drummer James Owen Sulliven. Brian's father was too a songwriter and guitarist. Brian soon joined Avenged Sevenfold with James at the age of 18 and the recorded their first album which was the starting point of their career in Music. The band got their way to the top, starring in all music magazines like 'Kerrang!' they finished their album Avenged Sevenfold before taking a break from writing to tour where they headlined festivals such as 'Download' and the very first 'Sonisphere' festival. But shortly after they announced to be writing a new album. However the band put it on hold after the sudden death of James their drummer, the band was left with the lyrics and music sheets of their new album James had completed three days before his death, it took 5 months untill Syn and M Shadows (Matthew Charles Sanders) got the rest of the band together to finish the album in honor of their beloved parted friend James. The album was then later released and was called 'Nightmare' Synyster wrote one track 'So Far Away' in honour of James. Synyster is also named in the top 10 guitarists along side Guns N Roses Slash, Jimi Hendrix and Led Zeppelin's Jimmy Page.

James Owen Sulliven also known as The Rev, Jimmy or Fiction. Born on the 9th of February 1981, he lived and grew up in Huntington Beach, California, James was the drummer and backing vocals to Avenged Sevenfold, he also wrote the songs for his band for their albums James wrote the hit songs 'Bat Country' and 'Afterlife'. The rest of Avenged Sevenfold say that Rev was a fun loving guy who enjoyed life and what he did, he was the life and soul of the parties. In 2009 Jimmy started work on their new album which he completed, the last song he ever wrote was a song called 'Fiction' which is a piano piece with him singing with the lead singer Matt, he completed the album just three days before he was found dead in his home after a night out with friends, this took a huge blow to family, friends, fans and the band itself, an autopsy was carried out and came back as natural causes but found traces of oxycodone mixed with diazepam and alcohol. The band deny Jimmy ever did drugs but he did drink to have a good time. Soon after his death At the second annual Revolver Golden God Awards Jimmy won the 'Best Drummer' award beating out Dave Grohl (Them Crooked Vultures) and Chris Adler (Lamb Of God) the remaining members of Avenged Sevenfold and Rev's family picked up the award on his behalf. On the 5th of January Rev was buried in Huntington Beach, he died on the 28th of December 2009 aged only 28.

And last but not least, Matthew Leone, bassist of rock band Madina Lake. He was born on May 13, 1981. Matthew is three minutes older than his identical twin Nathan Leone, who is the lead vocalist in Madina Lake. When Matthew and Nathan were 12 years old, their mother was killed in a car accident. Matthew landed a sports scholarship to go to college in Indianapolis, Indiana at Butler University. He pursued professional soccer in the United States and for nine months in Florence, Italy. Matthew also shortly attended Columbia College studying Music management.  Matthew picked up the bass for the first time at the age of 21. Seeking professional instruction, he was turned down by his first teacher, who said that his hands were too small to ever play the bass. He never went to another teacher, instead deciding to teach himself. On June 30, 2010, Nathan Leone reported on his blog that Matthew had been hospitalized after being assaulted in the street near Nathan's Chicago apartment. Matthew was trying to help a woman who was being beaten by her husband, and although Matthew subdued him, the man severely attacked Matthew from behind. Matthew was in critical condition, and doctors removed one-third of his skull while waiting for the swelling in his brain to go down on the 1st July Matthew woke and started to speak and react to everything going around him, he is in a stable condition and making a good recovery. His attackers were found and arrested and Leone was voted "Hero of the Year" by readers of Kerrang! magazine because of his efforts.
